Day 34 - Monterey/Carmel, CA

Sunday October 13th Day 34 of 42

Our bus picked us up at the Marina Dunes RV Park at 9:30 this morning. Our first stop was the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The Jelly Fish exhibit was wonderful. I couldn’t get good pictures with my little camera but I know Jim did. A highlight of the Aquarium visit was the feeding of the penguins.

The Aquarium was the only place I still needed post cards because I had bought lots at the RV Park. (The lady said they got 22,000 post cards two years ago when they bought the place and they are down to about 15,000 now. I don’t think I’ve seen such a good selection in years.)

A number of us stopped for lunch at Bubba Gump’s. Great food overlooking the bay. Bathing sea otters, kayakers, and even three swimmers. In wet suits as the water is 55 degrees cold.

Our guide joined us for the afternoon. Lots of history and miscellaneous information as we went through the Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach areas. Short stop to see the California Sea Lions. Another short stop at Pebble Beach. (Gas was 5.99 a gallon.)

Nice long stop in Carmel-by-the-sea. Several of us went shopping. The yarn shop was closed but there were plenty of jewelry stores and clothing stores.

We pulled up in the parking lot of the Carmel
Mission to view the outside and the grounds.

Short briefing on the bus on our way back to the RV park.
